William celebrated his third birthday and graduation from his preschool last Friday. Last Friday was a bittersweet moment since he had grown and developed so much inside his Whales classroom. His time ended on Friday because Regional Center only paid for services until he turned 3 years old. His speech much improved and he is capable of back and forth conversation. He is talking A LOT, though he needs to add more variety and less repetition to his words.
Apparently, William impressed his teachers during his time there with his buoyant and lovable personality and the new milestones he reached with every goal. He did very well in the program there and he will be missed.
The party for William followed after snack. We sang “Happy Birthday” to William and he blew out the candle on his cupcakes. The teachers served the vanilla, chocolate and red velvet cupcakes to the students and staff. He wore his golden birthday crown all day.
At the end of the day, his teachers presented me with his folder which included pictures of him throughout his time in their classroom and a graduation certificate. They surprised me with a personalized Good-bye Poem for William.
Also on his graduation certificate, they wrote that they are proud of his progress and accomplishments achieved in class and, “He is an outstanding student and exceptional child.” It was signed by six of his teachers and staff. Those words are a mother’s delight!
